About us

A Nonprofit Connecting Recovery with Real Work.

Service in Unity is a nonprofit that connects people in all forms of recovery with meaningful work and real community connection. We were built on a simple belief: that finding value beyond oneself can be a powerful catalyst for growth and healing, so we focus on lowering the barriers to work and building an environment where everyone belongs.
We bridge gaps in our community by meeting real needs. Through partnerships with small businesses, nonprofits, treatment providers, and community service organizations, we build strong local networks that support people in recovery while strengthening the communities they call home.
We're committed to a compassionate, supportive environment where people find value in themselves by contributing to others. When people are able to serve their community, it builds hope, resilience, and a brighter future for all.

In the founder's words

Our History

Service in Unity was founded to address the employment challenges faced by individuals in the substance abuse and mental health communities. Through my volunteer work in both areas, I observed a common struggle: finding value beyond oneself during recovery. This led to a simple yet powerful thought: “It should be easier.” From this, our guiding principle emerged: “We will prioritize our staff’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health above all else.” This ideal remains at the core of our mission every day.
The concept of Service in Unity took shape in the summer of 2021, and by the fall of that year, I began developing the idea, encouraged by many supporters. Since then, our journey has been both challenging and rewarding. After numerous talks with local leaders to develop the model, we officially incorporated in October 2023 and achieved 501(c)(3) status in March 2024.
Service in Unity has been the most demanding yet fulfilling endeavor of my professional life. Despite the obstacles, new opportunities continually arise, allowing us to move forward. I am thrilled to introduce our revamped business model, which will enable us to serve even more community members, both in recovery and beyond. Together, in unity, we are committed to serving our shared community.
